I have seen other threads about SMBs but none really answered my questions that I have.

Well first of all I had never even heard of them till I came on here lol shows how much I know.

Well I was just wondering do you think they are good boots for cross country and jumping in general?
And which version of SMB do you think are the best?

I, personally, am against the SMB support boot. I have heard great things about them, and horrible things about them.
Pros- they support
They provide a little more protection than the standard boot

Cons- They get waterlogged(or so I have heard)
They support

Some horses need the support on their joints(IE- ones that have had problems in the past, upper level horses) but some also become dependent on the boot and could potentially get hurt if the boot is not used in a workout.

I personally use Woof Boots. I LOVE them and are GREAT for every jumping phase.

Thumbs up

I have used Professional's Choice SMBs for many years and I really like them. I have never tried any of the "knock-off" type brands, so can't really comment on them.

I have used both the SMB II and the Elite SMB. The Elite is a more tailored fit and I find them easier to use in conjunction with bell boots if desired.

I have never had any issues with them and continue to use them on my guy. If you are not familiar with their proper application, try to ask someone who is experienced with putting them on.

The Professional's Choice web site used to have small videos that you could watch in regard to correct application of the boots, but the last few times that I've been to the site the videos were not working.

Thanks for that I wanted to figure out which type of them are better and what everyone's opinion on them was in general

PS...Personally, I see no difference between the SMB Elites and the SMB III.

One of my local tack shops actually will not carry the SMB III because when the Professional's Choice rep. Came in to talk to them about the product line, they felt there so little difference between the IIIs and the Elite's that it was not worth carrying them in the store.

They will order the III's if you must have them, but don't carry them as a rule.

Just thought I'd add that....
