Solar-Powered Fence Controller

Just wondering if anyone has thoughts on solar-powered fence controllers. Do they work well? Thanks.

We have two Solar Powered Fence Shockers, one has lasted 8 years, the other is a new installation and is two years old.

Before we went Solar we averaged a year or less out of the plug in kind, they seemed to attract lighting and burn up.

.

May all your Trails be happy and safe ones

The barn I board at uses them. I think they have two of them that are 6 years old. Both still work fine.

There are tons of cattlemen around here that use them on their fences. Solar is the preferred type as well. Many places don't have electrical outlets closeby and the one's that hook to a car battery don't last very long at all plus you have to worry about properly disposing of them every time you change the battery (which can be up to 2 to 3 times a year) :(

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/
