Spruce it up? Or leave it?

Ok, so I bought a new western headstall today to use my Little S hack because it doesn't work well with my English bridle.

Funny aside, the people I bought it from board at my new barn, but I didn't know it until we got to talking.

Anyway, it has these 1.5-2" conch-type things that sit where the browband, poll piece and throat latch come together. They are just plain, flat silver metal (steel, probably). I am kinda wanting to bling them up, but I'm not sure. What Do you guys think?

If I do bling them, it'll be in red and black. Any tips or ideas on how to bling them?

It's a medium oil (chestnut) with basket weave tooling and the browband is V-shaped.

I say bling em baby! You can replace the whole concho for like 10 bucks each if you find someone that does it. I know of a few so if your interested let me know. If you buy them in a tack store they can be 30-50 each.

And I would love to see a picture of it.

It's in pieces right now because I just oiled it. It oiled up real nice. Apparently it's a "large horse" size, but it'll fit Aires perfectly with the Little S. If we were using a bit with it, it would be just barely too short on the longest setting. Crazy thing about it is that the people I bought it from tried it on their 17hh horse and it was too big for him on the smallest setting. *sigh* Yeah, my boy has a HUGE head. Lol

I'll try to find a pic of the headstall online. I think it's a Weaver brand.

Oh I know big heads!! I had to get a mule/draft size for my warmblood. I added concho's to mine too because it came the way your picture shows, no bling at all! I found someone on a tack site I belong to on facebook that is really good. I added top and bottom. I am thinking I want to go more color but this is how it is now. I can change them later when I decide on a color scheme for her. Oh I needed black in them because the reins have the black dots.

Put batteries operated bling lights on it for night riding!

Nvr2many, it came with a pair of split reins that are laughably short. They can't be more than 4' long each. Good thing I'm getting a pair of black and red braided gaming reins for trail riding.

Oh niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! And yah, that is a riot about the 4' reins. When I got mine I wanted roper and bought a pair, oh talk about laughably short!! So I went with split. Please let me see when you get your reins. I would love to see!! And let me know if you want the info on the gal that did the concho's. Got all 4 for like 38 shipped.
