Default Stable Sheet.

Hello :)

Lol, I was wondering, was looking at the Classifields, as i just sold my figure skates, so thats 20$ in my pocket !
I should buy more things for the birds and the hamsters water thing broke, but he can suffice with a bowl. Because i want to buy something for one of the horses lol.

I saw this horse stable sheet, what do you think ?

How can you measure the size of blanket for a horse?
Can Stable Sheets be used outside too ?
How much warmth does a horse get from it ?
And is it capable in being used in the winter?
DO you think it would look good on a red roan mare or a Dun Mare. Could it Fit a QH ?

How can you measure the size of blanket for a horse?
You take a tape measure and measure from the center of the chest, around the barrel to the middle of the tail. One measurement, one horizontal line.
The sheet advertised is an 84" sheet - that is very very large. We're talking draft/large warmblood size.

Can Stable Sheets be used outside too ?
I don't recommend it. First off, stable sheets are generally not waterproof, so if they get rained or snowed on, the sheet will get drenched, and defeat the purpose. Secondly, generally stable sheets are not meant to be durable, so if the horse is turned out with any other horses, or is in a paddock with trees, I would bet my life savings it will be ripped and torn by day's end.
How much warmth does a horse get from it ?
The description doesn't say. The poly fill rating would tell you the warmth; 100-200 grams polyfill=lightweight, 200-300 grams polyfill=midweight, 300+ grams polyfill=heavyweight. Lightweight is light warmth, like a light windbreaker jacket on you, and a heavyweight is the warmest, like a heavy ski jacket for you.
For the sheet advertised, it sounds like it is JUST a sheet, just meant to keep dirt and shavings off the horse's coat, in that case, it will provide little to no warmth.

And is it capable in being used in the winter?
Depends on what it is. If this sheet is just that - a sheet, then it is literally designed to be used to keep the horse's coat clean overnight in a stall. If it is a true stable blanket, then it will add some warmth. See above description for polyfill.
DO you think it would look good on a red roan mare or a Dun Mare. Could it Fit a QH ?
It is not likely to fit. A size 84 blanket is a very very large blanket.
My answers are above bolded in blue :) Hope it helps.

I just checked the Greenhawk link. That is just a stable sheet for keeping a horse's coat clean. It will offer little to no warmth, and I wouldn't turn out in it, it would be destroyed fairly quickly.
Sorry :(
