Suggestions Wanted - Saddle Pads

Hi there!

I'm buying another Big Horn Trail Saddle (my current one is the black cordura) and need some suggestions for saddle pad colors to compliment this very dark (walnut) saddle:15"Big Horn Pleasure Trail Saddle-QHB,3 Way Rigging - eBay (item 300522925521 end time Feb-25-11 13:49:06 PST)

I had been planning to get a slightly lighter brown saddle and was going to get this pad: Contour Black Felt Saddle Pad Top Grain Wear Leathers - eBay (item 400181901652 end time Mar-17-11 16:37:15 PDT)

to go with it. But I don't think the two colors of brown (leathers & saddle) will work together. And I think the dark brown of the saddle is too close to black for black to not look a little funny. It could just be me, though. Anybody have any ideas of what would look nice with this saddle on my all black gelding?

If you have links to any suggestions, that would be helpful!

Thanks for your help!

The link to the picture of your saddle doesn't work, but I personally don't worry too much about everything matching absolutely perfectly. Since your horse is black, I wouldn't go with a black pad though. I would go with something a little more neutral colored or brighter.

Of course though, you could always go with the black pad like that and then use a lightweight blanket to add a bit of color and cover the non-matching leather.

Thanks for the link smrobs. Sorry my saddle photo link didn't work. Let's see if this one does:

I think I got a glimpse of it before it re-directed to the "this listing has ended" page.

It may just be me, but with the saddle and your horse both being so dark, I would want some color on my saddle pad to liven everything up.

I've gott'a agree with smrobs.
Some color would look best....

Just my personal opinion, I think a blue or purple looks really nice on a black horse, or red too, that would really stand out.
