Synthetic Saddles

I am starting Auda, my Belgian cross, in an English Wintec Wide. I really prefer to ride western, but I do English too to work on my balance and for when I'm jumping.

Auda is huuuge to say the least and doesn't fit into any of my other horses' western saddles, just the Wintec Wide. I'd like to get her a new-used western saddle pretty soon. It needs to be extra wide and totally synthetic. I'm vegan and don't use leather. A couple people recommended the Abetta but that's a hybrid.

Any other suggestions??

Is Abetta really has any leather in it? Hard to believe. Personally I found Abetta very uncomfortable to sit it. Somehow my legs go in improper position all the time. You can try Big Horn. It's synthetic and I know some people who really love it.

I have an Abetta too. There is no way I could do a couple of hours in it without getting a numb butt and sore knees. It was weird, my feet used to go numb in it to

Wintec makes a synthetic western too.

Have you seen this website?

Does wintec make wide or draft tree for western? I know they didn't while back, but not sure about now. Another option is flex-tree, which some people said fits wide back horses.

The Abetta has leather on the horn, in the fenders and inside the saddle to support it, I looked it up on their site. I tried a Western Wintec. I think they're terribly uncomfortable and not have enough "meat on their bones." They also have leather conchos and stuff.

I was also considering some kind of treeless. I heard there were good synthetic treelesses out there, but I forget the brand names.

I had accident with wintec western this fall, so NEVER again. I have english one though, which seems to be OK.

With treeless there are different opinions on that. I heard for sure you can't use one if your horse bucks. :)

That reminds me, I'd be careful with Wintec westerns. The cantles break.

Pretty sure quite a few of the treeless saddle makers do synthetic versions of their saddles as well as leather, since the synth material is often lighter and stands up to trail wear better. Check out or one of the many endurance forums and I'm sure you'll find a whole herd of options.
