Tack/saddle Trunk

So I had the brilliant idea of building a tack trunk to make me feel more secure with all my horse supplies. Has anyone found any free plans or have any they would recommend?

I do know about Elite Tack Design - Tack Trunk & Cabinet Plans for English & Western Riders. but am looking for something a little more costly if I can.

Would also love to hear any stories about you making one.

Many thanks!

My grandfather buit me a giant one when I was a kid- he gave it to me for Christmas :) Anyway, he said he used plans off the internet that he modified. It turned out beautiful. So beautiful that I didn't want to take it to the barn! SO I would suggest google and see what you can come up with. My grandfather is an experienced carpenter and craftsman. How much experience do you have building? That may have some bearing on what kind of trunk you end up making.

If it is just the exterior tthat you wantg to dress up a bit, get one of those Elite trunks and take it to an upholstery shop. They can cover it with leather or fabric of your choice, pad the lid as a seat, and line the compartments.

I was thinking of hiring a local carpenter. To, possibly the fiancee would help in the task. Either way I have done some wood working in the past.
