Tack sales, auctions or swaps? Colorado or other states?

Hi everybody! My 2 daughters just started taking lessons. We've recently made a move to Colorado where there are several hunter/jumper and eventing barns where the girls could finally start taking "real" riding lessons.

Anyhow here in CO they have several Ski Swaps. Swaps happen a few months before ski season begins and can be large events where people can bring used equipment to sell, trade, or barter! I'm wondering if there is anything like this in the horse world. I'm definitely interested in swaps in CO, but as my husband travels so much for his job I could arrange travel to other states as well!

With kids growing so quickly it hardly makes since to spend a ton of money on new field boots or show jackets only to have them outgrown by next show season.

Thanks for any info you can provide!!

Around here you can go to auctions and find cheap tack, but its mostly Western. Look on Facebook for a tack swap in your area.

What part of CO are you in?

There's an English tack shop by me that recently started selling used equipment on consignment, a lot of nice things and good prices there.

Craiglist is good too. I'm getting ready to sell all my daughter's outgrown riding clothes there.

I have not seen "swaps" but there are a lot of consignment sales at many tack shops, some you can actually bargain with the seller others don't allow. Auctions are regularly scheduled in the Midwest but its a total roll of the dice what you find. And yep, as a previous poster said western stuff far outweighs English as far as tack goes.

I'm in the Roaring Fork Valley, Glenwood Springs. I'll give Craigslist a try. Thank you, I appreciate the help.

I''ll be watching the responses for this too, Chasing. I need to trade my saddle (a collectible but very heavy) for something lighter to use on a pony, and I live in CO as well.

Speak to the BO about local clubs. Ours has an annual sale and this year was awesome, barely made it in the door.
