Hey
This thread is mostly for eventers. . .
What do you use for tape in your XC boots? Just regular Duct Tape or is there a special kind?
Thanks!

I am not an eventer, but I was raised up around Standardbreds, and my Grandparents always would tape the boots at the races...although not normally at home.

My grandparents would use black electrical tape. It is sticky enough to stick to the boot while you use it (we used to do twice around) but it wouldnt leave a sticky residue on the boot.

You can get electrical tape in a variety of colours as well, so that you could still have the colours that you ride in.

(We also always use baby powder on the inside of the boot...and I beleive it was to help prevent rubs on the legs.)

If I use tape, I use Electrical Tape. I grew up in Pony Club using Electrical Tape. It wasn't until I moved here when I started to hear about duct tape being used.

I find duct tape difficult to get off, where electrical tape isn't, and electrical tape doesn't leave residue and gunk behind on my boots.

Electrical tape for race horses. Make sure you don't rip any tape off when you've finished wrapping it around because it can pull and cause uneven tension in boots and wraps.
My grandma has been ripping it for years....but she always holds the tape where she wants it to rip so that it doesnt pull.

And by years, they have been in the standardbred business since my Mom was a little girl, and she is nearly 50.

She has never had a horse injured because the tape was pulled too tight.
