TexTan vs. Abetta

Yesterday I want saddle shopping with my dad. I got to sit on a used TexTan saddle. Since I don't have a picture of the saddle this is what it kinda looks like. Tex Tan Champion Racer Barrel Saddle - Statelinetack.com Maybe it's just because I haven't ridden in a saddle that has such a high swell? (I thinks that's what the man called it) But I am worried that it might rub my ummm, lady parts. Has anyone had problems with that happen? Also are they a good saddle brand?

I didn't find a Abetta saddle to sit in, but I found these two online. Abetta Endurance AIRE-Grip Saddle - Statelinetack.com and Abetta Stealth Endurance Saddle - Statelinetack.com. I really like the way the second one looks. But I want something that is going to be comfy and last a while.

So which would you go with?

Those are completely different saddles designed for completely different uses and made to fit completely different horses.
Probably need to get some good measurements, wither tracings, and other horse info to a saddle fitter and discus intended uses. Putting an ill fitting saddle on a good horse is a good way to turn them into a bad horse.

The guy told me that 99.9% of the time that if I get a FQHB it should fit my horse. I just might have to get a different blanket to make if fit better. I took a metal coat hanger and bended it over my mare's withers to get the fit.

99.9% I almost lost my sip of coffee on that one.

He was only interested in selling you something, that is the dumbest statement I have heard in a long time.

If you use those Templates and post some pics on here with the template on your Horse, we can have an idea of what Tree you need for your Horse and maybe find some suggestions of Saddles for you to look at.

You don't have to spend a fortune and it isnt all that hard. We can help get you straight and help find something suitable that will make you happy. Post some good plain side shots and a front shot of your horse, and let us know what you want to do with the horse. Then we can help you in the right path. Saddles are expensive and all of us have bought wrong saddles before.
But basic rule is , saddles should fit, pads are for padding. You don't use a pad to get a saddle to fit. Now if you already have a saddle and just wanna get buy, sure go for a bit of pad adjustment. But anyone that tells you right off the bat to use different padding to make a saddle you want to buy fit is taking advantage of you or doesnt know what they are talking about and just trying to make a sale. Horsesaddleshop.com has some pretty decent templates you can download, print and then put on cardboard and cut out.

Here is a picture of my horse: Sorry that it is so big. I just want to trail ride in it. I'm not sure if you can tell by the picture but she is kinda wide access the back. This is the only picture I have since I just got her in July and she is not at my house yet.

Do you have any friends with horses who could loan you a saddle to see how it fits? Each company has a different idea of what FQHBs mean, or Arabian, etc. I've just ordered an Abetta for our little mustang...he only is ridden a couple of times a month but none of our Arabian saddles fit him right.

I do not have any friends that have the saddles I want to try out.

I'm not going into differences between different kinds of saddles, but given the choice between say pleasure riding models of TexTan and Abetta, I'd go with TexTan.
