think this is a fair price for this used saddle?

My barn owner is awesome enough and said that if I found a saddle of hers that I like I can buy it from her. I found one that seems to fit Sonny alright, and it's a nice leather dressage saddle..but I don't know if it's worth the price she's asking.

The brand is collegiate, and it's their dressage gullet change.
She's asking $500 for it
It's not in the greatest condition...but it's comfortable and will include leathers and irons...but the leathers are brown...and the saddle is black haha

Is that a good price for it? Or should I try to get it down lower?

Collegiates are nice saddles. I think $500 might be fair, but I'm not an Englishy expert. If it's not in the greatest condition I might say $350 or $400.

It's hard to tell without having seen the saddle. Can you post photos?

It's hard to say without seeing the saddle. I just bought an almost brand new Collegiate (close contact) for $400 off ebay. They said it was ridden in 12 times but there is not even a stirrup mark on the pictures!

Are you planning on riding just dressage? If there's a chance you're going to do other stuff I'd recommend an All Purpose or even a close contact. You can do dressage in other things, but it's hard to do other things in a dressage saddle.

I posted a pic of a Stubben all purpose saddle I'm selling on Ebay. It's going for $330 right now! It's buffalo leather and other then a knick on the cantle in great shape. I listed it in the classifieds section of this forum.
