Thoughts???

Any thoughts on this saddle and such? Found it on ebay. It's a no-name brand but from a highly rated seller with a good review on the same saddle from another buyer. $184 for the whole set plus stirrup irons.

Run away. It's a piece of crap saddle, most likely made in India with scrap pieces basically. It will will probably be extremely uncomfortable for both you and your horse and won't be easy tofit.

Difficult to be precise from the pic but from the price I'd say jumanji's right. Avoid, unfortunately.

My husband bought me one of those. I can barely tell it's leather. Not very comfortable though that could be cause it's a size too big for me but I think it's more than that.

I don't use it much. I use it only when it's real hot out and I don't want to lug one of my western saddles. I haven't even tried it on any of the current horses. I've had it several years now. Mostly I just take it out and oil it and put it back. Think it's been on a horse 3 times, maybe 4.

Hard to see when it's just sitting there but when I clean it you can see several fingerprints in the stain that was used on the leather. The oil makes all kinds of finger marks stand out. Was put together so fast they didn't let the paint dry is my guess.

It fit my giant shouldered gaited Standardbred ok. It wasn't that great on my QH and App.

I wouldn't use it for any real riding. I used it for 1/2 hr. Walks in the woods.

Yep don't look twice at it, you would be so much better of in a second hand better quality saddle. The price isnt worth your horses sore back, Im positive you would regret it. Not sure where you are but in Australia you can pick up good cheap 2nd hand real leather saddles and gear ,maybe start looking in saddlerys and online.

That's what I thought too. What do you guys think of Wintec? I also have found HDR which looks nice but is pretty expensive.

Im a bit 50/50 with wintec , we've had a few and kept them for the beach, one was a brand new pro 2000 and never fit the long backed TB properly , gave him a sore back constantly but we had to make do, daughter saved up and bought a 30 yr old Passier for 300 bucks and it fits Like A Glove!! She puts the wintec on another different shape TB and it sits well on him.Wintec is definitely a choice over el cheapo this thread is about though.

Stay away from tack sets. They are usually very poor quality. Save the money and buy a used, decent quality saddle.

I'd agree with RollTheDice about Wintec, though their new panel and tree shapes are much improved. And having a changeable gullet is an advantage, though obviously not the only arbiter of fit.
