Thoughts on Courbette saddles

I have been looking at Courbette saddles because I like how close the curve of the tree comes to my current saddle that fits my horse in everything but tree width. Any thoughts on this brand? I was looking at the Alpina model and really liked what I saw, but I found several complaints that the seats were really hard. Is this just in the older models?

Here are the two models of the Alpina that I am considering:
Courbette Alpina 17 inches Saddle - eBay (item 320625729479 end time Dec-09-10 16:40:10 PST)

Courbette Close Contact 17 1/2 Alpina - eBay (item 300499119622 end time Dec-07-10 07:41:55 PST)

Kind of amazed me that they were both the same saddle, but I think the second one is the newer version.

I also found this one that I like: Pelham Saddlery: Courbette Magic Used All Purpose Saddle 17.5 MW

The other thing that concerns me is the lametex tree, in general I haven't heard a lot of good things about flex trees, but that was mostly in western saddles. A lot of people seemed to complain that their courbette fit differently then a non-flex tree in the same width. Anybody have any good or bad experiences with this tree?

Now that I finally have a horse that I think I am going to be set with for a while, I really want to be careful and find a good saddle that is not only going to last me a long time, but also fit him well, while staying within my budget.

A friend of mine has the Optima model and another has a Magic saddle. Both seem to be great quality and definitely comfy. My friend with the Magic said it was "like riding on a leather couch" lol. The newer saddles seem to be more well padded than the older models.

The more I read about the Magic the less I like it. Sounds like a lot of people think it is more cheaply made than the other models. :( I did like the sound of the water proof leather though.
