Just my 2¢ but my mom has a saddle pad very similar to the second one, it is my favorite one we have! It is older and has a tear in the fabric on the top because of a mouthy pony, but it has stood up to nearly 6 years of wear a tear.
She also payed upwards of $100 for it. Well worth the money if you can get one pretty new for a good price. I hope you can find something at the tack store! :)
Did a Google search and came up with this as the only info on the maker of this saddle: http://companies.findthecompany.com/m/l/14128946/Rooster-Saddlery-Llc-in-Hamilton-MT
At least it's American-made!
I was thinking that one looked like a Simco. My best friend almost bought its twin a couple of years back for her Arab mare, but it ended up not fitting.
I really like the second one. A huge plus is that it matches my new bridle (basket weave tooling). Posted via Mobile Device
I have a sneaking hunch the seller of the brown saddle has measure all the way to the back edge of the cantle. Being a vintage saddle 17's didn't exist then. You need to confirm that the saddle was meas. From the base of the horn to where the seat meets the cantle, not the stitch line, the edge. The padding will make it 1/2" smaller. It lookes like a 15" to me. If that works, The other saddle has 8 days to go and the bidding will go high. It's early in the game.
