Torn between saddles....

Okay so recently I decided to start making investments in a new show saddle.

If I play my cards right, I could possibly buy a Phil Harris or a Blue Ribbon show saddle. However that could take a year or a year and a half before I could. Another thing I also looked at Billy Royal.

I currently own a Billy Royal and its a little on the old side, but just a fantastic saddle and I really appreciate it. However I need something a little more new now and especially to get ready for the 2014 Congress with my filly. I want to get something very flashy and eye-drooling.

I don't want something old, I would love something new or lightly used.

I've seen some nicely used PH saddles, but then again I've seen a brand new BR go for less than a brand new PH.

Any advice would be good. Any personal stories would be good as well.

Thanks.

Billy Royal is ok but I'll pay more for a used Dale Chavez any day than I would for a new BR. They're going to bury my Dale Chavez with me, it's that comfortable.

Thanks for the reply,

From what I've been told the newer Dale Chavez saddles are aren't as good and don't have the greatest leather and silver.

I find that hard to believe, I've seen the saddles at shows recently and they look great. Mine's custom and I love it, it's lasted me 10 years so far and still looks brand new.

That really nice to hear, I have been looking at some Dale Chavez. They look nicely designed.

I've never ridden a more comfortable saddle.

The DC saddles look great from afar but are far from great. For all the money paid for these saddles they could be much better constructed.
