I just sold a saddle and boy was I shocked when shipping charges were given to me. I did not expect it to be so high. $122.00 with $20.00 of it insurance. Why are they so high? It was a 28 lb. Saddle... I got a good price for the saddle but paypal and shipping costs cut into it a tad more than expected. I should have used USPS, next time.

Yep, UPS and FedEx cost more than USPS. We do a lot of shipping where I work and use FedEx exclusively. They're good, fast, reliable and have a great track record, but they're not cheap!

Yikes, high postage costs put buyers off sometimes, so you just have to take the 'hit' for it.
I bought something off ebay recently and stupidly belived the seller when they said they weren't sure about the postage and would refund the difference when she found out how much it actually was... so I'm still waiting...

122.00? Wow... where was it going?

Did you ship from a UPS store or one of their franchises?

Some of the franchises charge more than a UPS Store, UPS is high but The highest I have seen was 95.00 including insurance and that was from GA to WA.

USPS is slow, but more economical in most cases

I just looked at my receipt and they charged me $39.00 for the box and filler stuff. I had it in a plastic bag when I brought it in. NEVER off

Green Broke
It DEFINITELY shouldn't be that much. I looked up shipping one time from SC, I believe, to middle-of-nowhere Canada, and shipping for that was around 120 dollars.

I work with UPS every day for my work and shipping from Texas to New York, a 50-60 pound package with insurance, is usually only around 70-80 dollars.

If you use your own packaging that charge won't happen again. Not sure you can ship something that large in a soft-sided plastic bag.

I wasn't planning on shipping it in just the bag...haha. I'll definitely pack it myself next time.
