Washing SMB's?

I was given a set of SMB's, they're in great shape but pretty dirty. Their previous owner took them off the horse the last time she rode, threw them in a tack box and there they sat. It's been several years since they were last used and they seem pretty stiff compared to the new ones I just bought.

Is there any way to wash these up? I'm giving them to someone else, the previous owner meant well but warmblood/draft sized boots just aren't going to fit on my 14.2hh horse and although I'm giving them away, I personally would feel awful to hand over stiff, filthy boots.

I bet they'd go through the wash just fine. Or, just hot water and soap.

I just washed mine last week. Came out great. I just did up the velcro and ran them thru with a load of rags so that the rages rubbed on them in the washer. Mine were also really dirty, so I turned them inside out, did the velcro again, and ran them thru a second time. Just don't put them in the dryer.

I think the original packaging even says "Washing machine safe." My BO told me to just stick them in and they'd come out looking brand new. Doing it with rags makes sense.

Awesome! Going to go throw them in the washer right now. Thanks!

Yep :) I throw mine in the washer all the time!

Just do them up like you would on your horse. Velcro secure - and toss them in. Voila :)

Then when you dry them - open them up, and fold over the velcro to secure it to the boot, and lay them on a towel.
