For those days when I want the security of riding with a horn, I have an Aussie saddle. It's a lovely saddle and I really like it, but it doesn't fit my horse. Even with the $70 fitment correction pad I bought it is too wide and slides back to an improper position on him. I've decided that rather than continue to fuss with it and try to get it to fit I'd just rather sell it and get something that fits without having to mess with it. I'd like to still have the option to ride in a saddle with a horn if I feel like it, so I'm thinking about getting a western saddle. The problem is, I'm an english rider and know pretty much zilch about western saddles! I need help! Can I even use a western saddle with my boy? He's an Appendix QH but his body is very TB-ish. In an english saddle he takes a medium or medium-wide. Here are two pictures of him. The first is more recent, from back in October when I moved him; the other is from 2005? And is a very good shot from the side with him standing almost perfectly square.
