Hi,
I'm looking at buying this saddle. Please give me your opinions.
I have gotten hold of Tex Tan and they tell me it is a Sierra Classic with a Bullhide tree. (Based on what I can make out from the serial number)
I'm just really doing trail riding.
I am in South Africa
It isn't so much what "we" think but how it fits the horse then you....
If a good horse fit and you are comfortable sitting and riding in it, then congratulations you have a very nice new saddle as yours...
If though it not fit well on the horse keep on looking as bad fit can create many problems you as owner deal with... A good horse fit is so, so important.
Good luck!!

Thanks - yes I am very aware about needing to fit this to my horse.
It's made in 1994 - is this considered one of the "older" saddles when people refer to this in their posts? Or what era do you generally consider to be the older ones?
This has Quarter Horse bars and a 6 1/4" gullet.
Based on the above, is this a saddle generally more suited to a narrower horse? Like a TB? Would this be considered VERY narrow, or can you still use it on fairly stocky horses?
That would be a narrow saddle and would not fit any of my qhs, arabs or even my tb. But all my guys are wide... they all take a FQHB 7" or 7 1/4"+ depending on the maker.
