Rather than hijack another thread completely, here goes:
I will be looking for a western saddle to toss on my QH maybe once every couple of months when someone other than myself wants to ride. He was broke western and I've taken him english, so I have no concerns about the horse, just the saddle. Now, he's got fairly good withers and is not a barrel like some QH. He's pretty 'normal' shaped, and a medium/medium-wide in my wintec gullets, fwiw.
I am not sure if I need a saddle with Full or Semi-QH bars. More importantly, I don't know how to figure that out. I've been assuming semi since he's not a barrel and barrel shaped QH seem to need full?
Finally, any tips on Abettas? It seems like they'd be perfect for what I'm looking for. No maintenance, cheap, and reasonably functional for light to moderate use. I looked on their site and they have a MILLION models and I got scared and left. How on earth would I choose? Maybe I want to get an endurance one so if I liked it I could use it rather than my Wintec AP? But then, I'm not sure if they'd actually stand up to that. Help me figure out what I need/would be important for choosing one!
