western show halter

A friend of mine gave me a show halter, it's older, maybe from the late 60's early 70's. It's got some silver across the nose and that's it. Very plane but I love it. I hadn't shown halter in a while and I've decided I want to give a try again but she has also decided to try it and she's wanting to use the halter. I can say no but I'd rather not so I was hoping you guys could help me find one. I don't like the big silver buckles. I want a plain one that is a good quality for an affordable price.

I've attached some pix from state fair (Riley was only 17 months there). But after a closer look, that is actually a halter that I borrowed. It has more bling than I want. I'm looking for old fashioned real silver and plain. Any suggestions?

See that big buckle? I don't like that. I like good solid functional buckles.

I"d check ebay and auctions.. I can't see to find one that I like either...

I'll second the recommendation to check eBay, auctions, and maybe Craigslist. I think you're most likely to find what you want in an older used halter. I bought a fairly cheap western show halter a couple of years ago, and everything I saw new at that time was all dripping in silver, flashy buckles, etc. Recently, just scanning tack catalogs, not seriously looking, almost everything new seems to be of the "congress cut" style as well. I do think an older used halter will be most likely to meet your criteria.

It's tough to find plainer western stuff - I'm not at all a "glitzy" girl, and I had a heck of a time finding western show tack and clothing that I liked. I'll keep my eyes peeled, and I'll be sure to post back if I run across anything that looks like it'll fit the bill! :)

Ahahaha! I'm the opposite! I LOVE the sparkley bling! I'll have a look around eBay and see if I can find anything.
