What is this?

All I can think is it looks like tiny elastic side reins. A pair, and about 8 inches long, anyone know what they are?

Looks like the rings that came off a running martingale, just detached from the rest of it. They do come off, so they two pieces probably got separated at one point.

Nothing to do with a running martingale I don't think, but I have no idea what they actually are for.

No other parts came with them, I bought a tack trunk full of tack and sold it all off. I found these at the bottom, have lots of running martingales none come apart or have elastics. The rings are dee rings not rings if that makes a difference.
