I need to buy a waterproof turnout sheet to add to the winter blanket for the colder temps, and for the Spring coming up. My horse is now in a practical 1200 dernier 200 gram fill Tough blanket I got at Chicks Saddlery. It has been a month since I've had it, and it has held up great. A little sagging occasionally at the front closure due to no velcro, but this hasn't been much of a problem as I just snugged it a little more there with the front closure. (no rubbing yet!) My horse is in the pasture 24/7 unless there is heavy to severe weather and then he uses his stall.
I wanted to get the 1200 dernier Tough turnout sheet, but it is out of stock and looks like it is discontinued. The 600 dernier one is next on my list, but it got horrible reviews on State Line Tack saying it wasn't waterproof at all. Then there is a Saxon 600 denier Turnout that would be my next choice.
Anyone have any experience they could share for this new horse owner? I'd like a turnout sheet that is really waterproof and could last a few years without breaking the bank.
