    Yes that looks like a tounge tie. Ours are black, but I know others who use white ones.

    That bit is a knocknsense bit, the horse cradles the bit in it's teeth and knocks some sense into the rider by hitting them over the head with the large metal ends. The bit is extremely comfortable for the horse as he only puts the corner of the bit in it's mouth. However this bit has been known to disqualify many riders from showing events.

    Have to agree with smrobs on this. Its a popular bit in Harness and driving.
