As far as I know, the only things that will get you laughed at in the Western world are things like not having matching tack (which is ridiculous, IMHO) or picking a color for your gear (saddle pad, boots, etc...not the actual saddle or bridle) that doesn't go with your horse. For example, the bay gelding I used to have would have looked absolutely ridiculous in pink. Not because he was a boy, but because pink would not have gone with his coloring. I have seen girls with leopard print saddle pads, zebra print saddle pads, you name it, at the local schooling shows. I could be wrong, though...I don't have much contact with the "show world," as it were.

I think you would find the first saddle would be prone to looking grubby before long. Some of the finishes are like a painted finish instead of the natural light color as it comes from the tanners. I saw a lady riding a gorgeous black and white paint, her attire was black and white, her tack -black with silver, but her pad was white with green and white and black zig-zags, A black pad would have completed her outfit and really set of her saddle. The color of the pad was quite distracting.

To be honest, pretty much any color would go with that horse, within reason.

I think royal blue or baby blue would be nice, or even hunter green.
