You still have time. The horse is still growing and likely won't fit the same in the next five years as she will when she gets the saddle any way

I do not want a synthetic saddle. I want a complete set, leather saddle, preferably medium oil. Any suggestions on where to look?
I bet you can find a quality used saddle in your price range. Do you have any consignment shops in your area? Craigslist? eBay can be risky if you don't know exactly what to look for and what to ask. There are reputable online stores that sell used saddles, often with a trial period.

Facebook groups. That's where I find all the great saddle buys. Its all local and mostly within range to come out to look/feel/ and maybe borrow to test.

If you look hard enough you can usually find better quality saddles, nothing amazing but not 100% junk, for sale for around $250 or $300 at consignment tack stores or Craigslist, if you're diligent enough. I just recently found an older Circle Y for $300 and it is comfortable and feels great, plus it was already broken in so I didn't have to deal with that horrible breaking in phase

The saddle is likely junk, as Phly said. Even a scratched one, as the ad said this one is, cannot be sold with "everything" for $299 and be anything but junk.

I think you'd be best looking for a nice second hand one. Color is not your jfirst concern, fit is.

Definitely do not buy that saddle. Look for something used, there are plenty of great quality used saddles in that price range.

Thank you, I will take a look!

What about this saddle? Is it acceptable? Is it leather? I cannot tell. I think if I waited a little bit, I could afford it.
