eBay is not, in my opinion, an ideal place to find a saddle because the quality is not worth the cost to ship it. Definitely search used saddles on eBay if you're going to look there.

There is such a thing as putting a "wanted:" ad out.

Iso: seventeen inch, in good shape, well made saddle, for my two year old filly to be started when she's three. Am willing to pay x amount of money or x amount of money in payments. Trades not an option. Please be willing to let me test it on my filly to see how it fits.

One thing I've learned with "cheap" unnamed saddles is, if its too good to be true, it usually is. And might be so for the brand name saddles, but usually they have good integrity so I'm not worried too much.

I will be putting a wanted ad out on kijiji, I just would like a tack set, so I don't have to buy everything sepertly, and have it not matching for shows.

This is new, but what about quality? Is it good, I am looking for something like this, but if I could find it in a different colour, it would be better:
17" Leather Western Barrel Racer Crystal PURPLE Bling Saddle FREE TACK SET | eBay

I am looking on kijiji but all the saddle right now, are so expensive.

The only option that I have for you are the good big horn synthetics. I just saw on horseforum, was a 250.00 big horn synthetic sixteen inch with half quarter bars.

Big horns tend to run that much anyway, and as I've read, are pretty good saddles. Someone else might have to attest to it though.

No to Craigslist up here, but yes to Kijiji and lots of Facebook groups.

Breezy everyone wants to help you and you are getting tons of good advice, mainly fro people who have struggled through this very thing.

Join the groups, tell everyone what you are looking for people will help, but please stop looking at cheap crap for starting a horse, save up, beg borrow or steal but get a nice quality older saddle for your mare, she deserves the best start you can give her.

You also have to think about resale value.
Crap saddles have crap resale value. Good saddles have great resale value.

Especially since your filly will grow/grow out of the saddle you are getting for her when she starts the funds you use for the good saddle once sold, could help your way of getting another great saddle.

That saddle doesn't look any better than the others.

Bottom line is: you will NOT find a NEW saddle that is worth your money for $300. You certainly won't get a tack set that is worth anything for that.

I would just completely pass on any ad for a new saddle/tack set listed at that price. It is a cheap, likely dangerously poor quality item.

I know that isn't what you want to hear, but that is what's realistic. It sort of sounds like you're going to buy one of the new "tack sets" no matter what any of us say though. :/
