Used stuff in Regina for sale - UsedRegina.com - buy and sell free classified ads

Hi Breezy. Check out this one. I don't know if I've got things set up right but what it's supposed to be is an ad in "Used Regina" - it shows a 17" 8" gullet western rawhide (good saddle - I've had one myself for years now) with breastplate for $500 or best offer.

Get a good used saddle. Then save up your money and buy a matching tack set that is the same color. It is easy to find breast collars, headstalls and reins that all match. But consider that a separate purchase from your saddle. As long as the saddle and tack set are close in color (doesn't have to be exact) it will look like you match because your reins/headstall/breast collar will all be the same color.

I don't think I have ever bought a saddle with a tack set and I have no problems coming up with all kinds of great looks that match.

You will look better to all horseman around you with nicely cared for, high quality USED tack than a matching set of new tack. High quality, well cared for USED tack says your are a true horseman. New, cheap tack that matches says you don't know what good quality tack looks like and you are a newbie. Just my opinion. You can learn a lot about a person by looking at their tack.

I see a lot of people with cheap tack (and by cheap, I mean quality-wise, not necessarily price-wise) and I come to the conclusion they don't know much about horses. I see someone with high quality, used tack, sometimes even beat to heck, and think that is a person that puts some miles on their horses. Around here I also see a lot of folks with NEW expensive tack and know they are probably retirees that want to ride but never really put the mileage on their horses.

Maybe I assume too much. But I love looking at the tack of other riders.

PS. From the ad, that looks like a very respectable saddle.

PS. I don't mean to come off as hard, so I hope it didn't sound that way. I used to be the same way. I would rather buy new and keep in it great shape than buy someone else's beater. But then I learned to appreciate quality tack and realized that with a little shopping you can get quality tack you can afford used. Sometimes in like-new condition at used prices.
