    Here in Australia, a halter/headstall is on the horse's head and it is what we lead our horses with (teamed with a lead rope) and a the main part of a bridle is called a head peice and the usually comes without reins and a bit but with everything else :) I find it interesting to see the differences in the names between aus and america, not just in horsey stuff either :)
