What to show in!!

I have been showing for about 5 years now, but we can never seem to keep up with the right outfits!! I show in western pleasure, western horsemanship, and showmanship...can you use the same outfit for both? Are people wearing chaps now? I am in Minnesota if that helps. I have a new show shirt (black and turquoise), that i tuck in with a belt, black show pants, black boots, and black cowboy hat. For my horse I have a black and turquoise show pad, show saddle, a bridle with a browband that is all silver (do you prefer those or the 1-2 eared). Is anyone using a show breast collar for western pleasure or horsemanship? I would appreciate opinions and advice!!

Hi there,

Chaps are absolutely appropriate for the western pleasure and horsemanship. Brow band headstalls are out of style, and most trends lean towards the one or two eared headstalls. Breast collars are also out of style and you will never see them any more at the higher levels.

Hope this helps!

If you want to know what's trending, check out pictures from the previous year's world show.

This was the 2012 winner for senior western pleasure.

This was the junior Western Pleasure champion for 2012.

Amateur WP 2012

2012 World Select Showmanship video (you can at least see outfits of people walking by during her interview to see what people are wearing)

At least that will get you started.

We usually have our free hand bent but your photos have them straight...
We also have split ear headstalls.

For showmanship I think you could untuck your shirt and where it with the black pants and be fine.
