What size western saddle is a good size?

I am looking to buy a new saddle. I know I want a size 16 seat, but was wondering how big the skirt should be. I have a 2 1/2 year old Quarter Horse gelding. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Well since you have a quarter horse who is of age the main thing is getting a saddle with full quarter horse bars. Which means that the tree of the saddle needs to fit him. Unless he is a foundation bred stocky horse you would need a tree saddle. If he is foundation bred I would suggest a treeless saddle.
