So I have been researching tack options. I plan on purchasing my own horse in a couple years. I have experience with horses but I have never had to purchase my own tack before and the one thing I am having trouble with is the saddle because there are so many options and so many opinions out there in the horse world.
I do not have the horse yet (just to reiterate) so I cannot take measurements etc. But I do plan on having a somewhat custom saddle made when the time comes. I plan on doing long distance trail/endurance type riding because I live in the mountains. I prefer Western. Not sure if I will try to compete (don't know if that matters for the saddle).
I want something light in weight. Sturdy and comfortable for both parties. Cost is not an issue but I would like to stay under $2500-$3000.
I have been looking at treeless saddles but I have heard mixed reviews. Some people say they are great. Others say they should be the last resort until you're sure your horse is impossible to fit due to withers etc because they don't offer any support. I personally just like the idea of that natural contact, that's the main thing that draws my attention.
As for regular saddles I am lost! There are so many options and companies and opinions and it is very overwhelming. It is not as if I am under a time crunch or anything, like I said, in a year or two. However I don't want to be this overwhelmed or confused when the time comes.
If I could get some helpful advice, maybe some brand names or URLs that would be great.
Below I have linked some of the companies I have found that seem promising to me. However I am not sure if they are really that great. If anyone is willing to look at them and give me an opinion and/or reference I would be most grateful!
