Where to buy rope for rope halters?

Hi I want to buy some polyester/nylon rope for halters. The rope is quite expensive on ebay and amazon.com. Where do you guys that make rope halters get your rope? Please help. Thanks. :)

We have REI outdoor stores in my area that sell rope in bulk. They might sell it online too if you don't have one in your area.

This is the kind of stuff I like, though I’d go for at least 5mm rather than this one. It lasts forever, I use it for training and for a halter to put under a bridle if I ride with a bridle (I consider leading a horse by the bridle reigns a mortal sin) given that its light and not bulky. For more general kinds of things I’d use a webbing halter.

We had kids learn to tie halters through 4-H and I shopped around for bulk rope. Our local co-op farm/hardware store was where I ended up buying it.
I also found some at TSC, Wal-Mart and a bunch of local farm stores. All depends on what diameter you want and whether you are picky in regards to color.

I get mine online from here: Rope By The Foot
They are great to work with and their rope is amazing quality. I made a halter from their rope and it has held up through a bunch of situations. They also have a lot of great colors.
