My boy was deemed "too difficult to handle" & put into an early retirement because his owner kept sticking harsher & harsher bits into his mouth & still couldn't get him to behave & stop running away with her. Funny how I stuck a loose-ring french link snaffle in his mouth & took the time to gain his trust & now he's a complete lamb.

I agree! My first horse has a simple happy mouth snaffle, even when I used to try to jump him. And he TAKES OFF to jumps, but slapping a harsh bit in his mouth wasn't going to help, he's very soft mouthed

exact same story with my horse and the exact same bit settled my horse down once i got him. the french link is just so nice on their mouth, no pinching or constant pressure. i ride mine in a D-ring french link, but thats mostly bc it looks better with his head shape
