I always rode hunt seat using an AP, but even at small rural shows, nobody does that anymore. So, about 4 years ago, I decided to get a close contact saddle. I've concluded that it's just about as difficult to buy the perfect cc as is is to get the perfect dressage saddle, for pretty much the same reasons: It has to fit the horse, and also be matched to the rider's body.
So very very true.
The only downside to the saddle I have now is that it has the thigh blocks amd deeper seat. So if I want to show in any hunter classes I will stick out like a sore thumb. Thankfully I don't ride hunters unless I am on a greenie, and at that point I figure the least of my worries is my thigh blocks lol.
I hate shopping for cc saddles. I hate shopping for dressage even more. Oh how I hate dressage saddle shopping... so very very very much.
