Can someone recommend WIDE english saddle? I don't mean wide tree here, but when I fitted my horse I noticed some saddles look wider than others. The one I have is good for my paint, but seems to be narrow for my qh (although it still fit her meaning doesn't make her sore, but it doesn't look very well fit to me). I was thinking about something up to $1000 (may be little more).
For up to $1,000 you can find a nice wide used saddle. You want to look for a saddle with a "hoop" tree, one that's an inverted you shape in front instead of an inverted V in front. Some brands that have hoop trees include County, Black County (quite pricey though), Duett, some Passiers, some Kieffers, some Albions.
Thornhill's are generally wider than most as well.
All of the above will also have a wider gullet channel, what sits over the spine all the way back.
Thanks, luvs! I know thornhill is quite wide (friend of mine use it on her percheron), but I didn't find it very comfortable to sit (yes, I know I'm too picky sometime! ). I'll look into other brands!
