Winter blankets...

I just bought two new blankets (one was by accident... stinkin' ebay). They're brand new, never used.

The first is a "640D turnout winter waterproof blanket" that I paid around $80 for (including shipping).

The second is a "New JP North Quilted Horse Blanket 75" Blue/Black" and I paid around $38 for it (this is the one I "accidentally" bought).

Which one is better, and why? I've never really used winter blankets before, but my new horse is on the thin side and I want to make sure he stays warm. Thanks in advance!

I'm so busy, I don't know if I've found a rope... or lost my horse...

The quilted blankets are usually stable blankets. They're not waterproof and should not be used in wet weather. You can use a waterproof sheet over it if you want to use it as a turnout.

As for the other one, I don't trust any no-name blanket. I have seen more than a few that ended up being not waterproof at all, and the horse ended up soaked and shivering badly. $80 is an okay price, but not that great of a deal for a 640d outer shell. I paid $60 each for two 600d medium weight blankets from, and they were a brand name.
