Cool Woah! A double saddle!

Woah! I was searching google for the ugly tack thread, and found this:

It's a double saddle....I've never seen this before. It can't be good for a horse's back....Anyone ever seen this before or have any views on it?

Not a saddle, but an attachment for a saddle.

I don't remember, I saw it when I was eleven. But the attached portion sits closer to the horse's hindquarters(obviously). I don't think it's any more uncomfortable than two people riding double, other than it's in saddle form. From what I can see int he picture I have (which isn't a lot) it might be attached to the pad, or strapped on in some way to the saddle.

Huh, that's interesting. I wonder what tree they use under it?

It's definitely one saddle, not an attachment

no, I mean the one I saw years ago was a cloth or nylon attachment.

Hm... I imagine the kid sitting back there is probably about as heavy as full saddle bags, and his feet would be so short there is no way to kick the horse in the kidneys, so... I guess it isn't inhumane, but it seems a little silly to me.

^Ya, that's my line of thought. But you know there's the idiot adult who gets on the back and kicks the horse from back there.....
