I've been waiting forever for Tanner's new saddle to come in (a lot of issues came up that made it get here late), and in the mean time, I was unable to ride Tanner without borrowing a friend's saddle (that was all around too big for me) or barebacking her. (Because none of the saddles I already had would fit her high withers)
I finally got in the saddle yesterday (along with all the other stuff that I'd ordered), and just had to express how excited I am! I was so worried that it wouldn't fit her, or would be really ugly, or something like that, and American Saddlery's return policy is kinda weird (You return the saddle to the dealer, and he refunds you the money from his pocket and then is stuck with the saddle; you don't return the saddle to the company. Since I buy the saddles through my uncle, and he sells them to me at wholesale price, I couldn't really return it to him in good concious.)
So, anyway, I popped the saddle on her back, and checked it over, and lo-and-behold, it fits her! I think a cutback pad would make it fit *better*, but I can always pick one of those up. I even hopped up in the saddle and trotted her a little, leaned all the way forward, all sorts of stuff, and the swell came nowhere near banging on her withers.
So here's a picture I took quick:
There's a matching breast collar, flank cinch, and headstall, too, but I was more concerned with the saddle, so I didn't deck it out with all the acessories right away. Oh, and don't you love my girth? Totally makes the set.
I'm going to try dying it red, just to see if I can.
