Yesterday I had a saddle fitter come out and take a look at my saddles on my Quarter Horse. As I thought all my saddles are too tight and too long for my horse.
Now I'm on a hunt for a new saddle for my extra wide, no wither, short back horse. The saddle fitter is going to keep an eye out for saddles but she confirmed he's going to be difficult to fit.
So has anyone else had a similar horse and was successful with finding a correct fitting saddle?
Last year I was going to buy a brand new Tucker, knowing that Tucker saddles generally fit my horse. I love my current Tucker for trail riding, but it's too big for me. Then I thought there had to be something used in the type I am looking for. Long story short, I have had absolutely zero luck finding a saddle in my seat size and color used. So now I am saving back up for that super expensive new one. Yay Saddle Hunt 😜 Ha ha!
Not sure which discipline you prefer, but for horses with short backs I prefer a Wade type western saddle. I use them on colts since colts generally have shorter backs. Also Aussie saddles are very comfortable, for you and the horse, although they're the type of saddle you either love or hate. I love them, my next saddle is going to be an Aussie. The web site below has several affordable saddle models, and you could probably find them cheaper used, but if you buy new you can also send in a wither tracing free of charge and they'll custom fit the tree to your horse's back. If you're into the whole Aussie thing.

Thank you for the link! Me and my boy tend to ride western thou I have always wanted to try an Aussie saddle, not sure how i'll like so I need to find one i'll try.
My saddle fitter found a saddle that might fit my boy... but I'm in Ohio and it's in NJ ..... not sure how that will work...?
@Kaifyre haha I agree. After researching the serial number it looks it might actually be SQHB... Right now we are searching for FQHB , 8 inch gullet, and short skirt. My boy is short back and very wide.
