Because my mare's legs are so fine boned and longer pasterns she ALWAYS has front boots on. She came with a no name brand and I didn't like those at all they didn't seem to offer the same support. Got lucky enough to find a practically new used pair of front SMB3's for only 50, for now use polo's in the back but soon hope to have a pair of back boots too. I love them because they are fast and easy to put on, which is great for my mare who just hates to stand still to have them put on. And they offer more protection and support than the classic polo's. To wash them is easy just hose them off and set them up to dry (not in the sun). I wouldn't really recommend putting them in the washer because the insides would become distorted and not offer the even support after time.
The only thing I don't like about the profesioanly choice boots is you can put them on wrong and your horse will hate you! Most people I have seen have the strap that wraps under the fetlock digging into the horses pastern, the horses hate it. Just make sure that you put them up high enough!
