I ride dressage, so my dressage saddle is my only one. I'm not too into jumping, but I occasionally like to pop my horse over jumps once in awhile so I've thought about getting a close contact saddle for those days (a few times a month maybe). I don't want to get something too cruddy, but I can only really justify spending up to a couple of hundred if something ok comes up for cheap that has knee rolls.
I found someone selling a collegiate close contact with knee rolls and a smooth padded flap, but there is a small (2 in) tear in the seat that is covered by the rider's leg. I'm not doing any serious riding or showing with it so this doesn't bother me, but how much should this take down the value of the saddle? I have seen all kinds of prices listed for collegiate close contacts, so I'm not really sure how much this saddle is worth and how much this flaw will bring down its value.
She was originally asking $250 plus shipping for saddle, leathers, and irons, but she is willing to bring the price down to $170 + shipping. The saddle appears to be in good shape except for this, so is it worth it or not? It's not really a "need to have" thing, so I'll pass if it doesn't seem worth it and keep popping over the few tiny jumps in my dressage saddle.
