    possible saddle? HELP!!

Courbette English All Purpose Saddle | eBay

What do you all think? I would be using it as an all around saddle for my 5 year old thoroughbred. He is narrow but VERY sensitive about his saddle. If it is to tight he wont even walk out. What do you think of the brand/saddle/leather etc?

That is the German Made version, they were more expensive then the Swiss made one when new. Very Nice Saddles

But, the ad says Medium/Wide ... that may not fit the narrower versions of TB's

The leather looks nice, German made is usually very good quality, & the helmet is also included. I'm surprised there are no bids on it yet.

If the bidders are like me I wait until the last 10 min. I don't worry if I'm beat as another good deal will come along. I bo't on whereby the seller asked for an offer. I'd noticed it had been on ebay for quite a while. I offered $90 and it was immediately accepted. Saddle is in vg condition.

Can you ask the seller for more details on the tree width? Most people who sell on eBay really have no idea what their tree size is. Most will look at the gullet width and think it's the tree width.

It would be a shame to let such a lovely saddle go (if you really like it), without really knowing the tree size.

Can you get seller to give you a gullet measurement from D-ring to D-ring? Then ask if they can lift the flaps to find the tree points, and ask if they can estimate the angle between the tree points, or send you a picture straight from the front with the flaps lifted so you can try to eyeball it yourself?

Have you taken a wither-tracing of your horse so you know about what shape/size tree and gullet you need?

Sorry, double-post - too late to edit. I looked at the pic from the front really closely. It's a dark picture taken from too far away, but that really does look more like a medium to me. The angle just looks really close to 90 or thereabouts. I'm comparing it to my medium-tree Passier, and it looks similar, if not narrower. A lot of people will call a Passier Medium a M/W as well, because they fit generously, and they don't know any better. You need better pictures and measurements, especially since seller doesn't accept returns.

Also, if I were bidding on a saddle at this price with no returns, I'd definitely want pictures of both billet-sets and a better shot from straight behind or straight-on-front to check tree-straightness. From the pics provided, it does look straight, but they're not the best pictures to be sure.
