Sheepskin, gel or memory foam half pad? Reviews and Thoughts Please!
Hi, I have a TB gelding, typical high withers. I ride in a Wintec AP Saddle (it fits him fine). I ride with a contoured saddle pad that fits the shape of his withers really well. Its not a super thick pad by any means but still has something. My instructor told me I should be looking at getting a "nummah" to go under the saddle for a bit more cushioning.
I've researched plain sheepskin pads, gel pads, and memory foam pads. What is everyone's opinion on the difference for the three?
I went into Tudor Tacke the other day and was shown the Ogilvy memory foam pads, they were super nice but also $200. Does anyone know how Greenhawk's Shedrow memory foam pads compare ($100)? Is memory foam better than gel?
If one is worth buying over another then I will save up to buy an expensive pad (but with a max of about $200). I Just want to buy the correct/best one. I'm also going to start jumping after Xmas, and was told the memory foam would be really good for that since it absorbs the shock. Again, how to gel pads compare?
Thanks everyone, and a early Merry Christmas!
