I tried on a bunch of helmets up to ~$300 last time I replaced my helmet and they all made my head look big So, I decided to stick with the Tipperary, which fit my head shape much better than Troxel. I was glad to see that they fixed the only thing I hated about my old one- the visor used to be the same material as the rest of the shell and would eventually crack, but the new ones have a flexible visor. Problem solved.

I fell off and my $400 GPA cracked and I had a severe concussion. Does this mean GPA sucks too?

Helmets don't prevent concussions. They prevent long term and possibly fatal brain damage. If it broke and you had a concussion, chances are you would have been killed or paralyzed had you not had a helmet on.

I love the sportage, I also love Ovations. As I have mentioned in other threads I have a ban on troxel in my lesson program after a kid who had a properly fitted helmet fell off and her helmet flew off before she even hit the ground.

I wore Troxels for years and then after my big spill in July I had to replace my helmet. I bought a Tipperary Sportage and I LOVE it. I haven't done a lot of riding in it yet, but it's very lightweight and so comfortable. I also like the fact that it seems to come further down the back of my neck than the Troxel.

I can't complain about the Troxel. It kept me alive with only cracks in my C1 and C2 and a pretty bad concussion. But after those cracks and a fractured transverse process in my T1, I figured anything that protected the back of my neck was a good thing. I don't actually KNOW that it's any better for the back of my neck, but at this point, even thinking it might be better helps my confidence.

I'm not a complete idiot--there are parts missing!

What you have become is the price you paid to get what you used to want.
