What do you think of this saddle?

Can you guys tell me anything about the possible brand or quality of this saddle? It's made on a Little Wonder tree...are those good trees? Tell me anything you can about it! Thank you! :)

I don't know the maker, but it looks to be of good quality and should last you quite a bit of years after a good cleaning and maintenance.

I'd be nervous about buying an "antique" saddle. The seller said it hadn't been used in 30 years, and if it hadn't been used in 30 years that probably means it wasn't cared for (Cleaned, oiled, ect, ect) in 30 years either. I'd bet the saddle would be really stiff, and plus, if someone says "antique" I'm thinking decoration, not for riding. Unlike some things, saddles do NOT get better with age ;) I'm sure you could find a much nicer, newer and more comfy saddle than this one that is still within your price range. If you really just need a saddle for cheap, I'd try looking at some synthetics. Their lightweight, you can hose them off if you like, and they are never very pricey.

I assume since you asked about the tree you want to use it and not just display it. I like the looks of the saddle. But for $155 and the seller saying it is good for display, I'd be concerned.
But if it is solid, fits your horse and you, I'd buy it.
Did you question the seller about any problems with it?

Also...Why did they stick a stupid looking hat on the seat in that one photo? And the rope? Sounds like they are focusing on the "display" aspect.

It does sound like they are focusing on display for sure. I really like the looks of the saddle and although I have a saddle that fits my horse very well I wouldn't mind having one with a seat an 1" bigger for me. I e-mailed the guy asking if it was usable... we'll see what he says. I hadn't thought about the fact that if it's been sitting around for 30 years then it's unlikely to have been oiled in all those years as well... hmmmm. The leather doesn't appear to be overly dry or cracked in the pictures but I guess I'd have to have a look at it and feel it to be sure. Thanks for the advice! Anyone else think they might know the brand?

For $155 grab the saddle. It has a rawhide covered tree. I suspect anything that might be wrong with this saddle will be very minor. These older saddles are built to last a life time to all top quality leather and hardware is used. Maybe I'll buy it. The wonder style tree means the sharp forks and it may be a little narrower in the twist which women find more comfortable. With so many people trying to sue, the seller is likely protecting himself by saying good for display.
