So today, while I was at the barn working, a fellow boarder was giving the beginner lessons, since our BO is out of town for the weekend. She was switching from one lesson to another (same horse though) so she just told the girl to not worry about un tacking, and the next girl would help her. So she goes into the tack room to get the western saddle (the other girl was riding english) and ties the mare using her reins. Yes folks. I said "oh my god" to myself and speedily and quietly walked right over to her, untied her from her spot, and held her. She was only wearing a snaffle, not her usual pelham thank god, but she's a mare. She gets fussy and bratty, and has "spooked" before. Regardless, her halter was right there!!!! Just pick it up and put it on over the bridle, and tie her that way.

    Some people.

Woooow I have had to firmly tell many students not to tie the horse by its reins when I worked at the ranch during camps because they would do it.
