Ooh! MHFQ, a little XC course to "play" on would literally be a dream come true for me!!
I see in many You Tube videos, especially those from European countries, that XC riding courses are VERY COMMON, though seem nearly impossible to find in my area
I do find when trail riding in the deserts and washes around here, that there are plenty of natural obstacles of relatively small size one could jump (and two we DID-unexpectedly-jump recently!), quite an adventure, and believe me was I pleased to stay on!
as I thought we'd sort of "step" over the smallish set of logs in our general path, the mare I was on said, "Yahoo!" & took them like a combination, trotting in, and cantering out and right up a small hill! Was very fun and very unexpected!
Nonetheless, unfortunately, the trails around here are usually too tight to do much cantering, and unless we get lucky, there really is too much dangerous crap on the side of the trails to really do more than walk, as they require a lot of negotiating of large cacti and other pointy items!
What I wouldn't give for those wide open fields one sees in Montana, as well as the rolling, grassy hills in Ireland and Scotland! I do know that there are many lovely (non-grassy, of course) trails and large open washes in my "general" area, just none that I've yet been out on. That is something I literally cannot WAIT to experience once I acquire and grow accustomed to my future horse...there are many riding groups that go out together, making such an adventure safer, and eventually I would hope to ride together with DH on both of our own horses!
One day...we're still trying to see where the future shall lead in terms of the "big move" we are planning for in the next two (to three) years...I am not a "job hopper" unless totally unavoidable, thus, now that I have chosen, basically due to highly unstable and emotionally damaging circumstances at my current job (for the next 6 shifts, anyway!), to leave & start my new job, it sets our move back some. I dislike the idea of moving jobs any more often than necessary, and three years is about as short as I'd like to cut it...so, our two year plan to move out of AZ, or at least out of Southern AZ (we are partial to Northern AZ/ Prescott area) has now changed to a three year plan!
Given that the unrest in the country allows everyone to live within any sense of "normalcy" for THAT LONG, (but that is a different thread entirely!)
Wow, again, "ramble endlessly much"? Sorry...I'll cut THIS OFF, now! Y'all have a great night...weekend is almost here! Woo-hoo!! :0)
