Ugh, it sounds like everyone is having a rough time lately. As bad as it sounds, sometimes its a good reminder for ME at least, to know that random stupidly bad crap doesn't only happen to me, and not everyone else's life is nice, boring and perfect!!!
Drafty, I'm sorry about your situation...my husband always forgets to pay the bills he's supposed to take care of, so I know the feeling. As for your brother, is he not ALLOWED to have internet access or something? Because honestly, it might be cheaper to go to tigerdirect.com or amazon, and buy him a cheap cheap cheap tablet with wifi, and tell him to go steal someone's wifi instead.
I bought a tablet yesterday and used 100 dollars of expotv credit to make it more affordable. That's one viable option to do the tablet thing if you can't afford to just blow money on your bro....I can pm you a link if you want.
Anyway so some good news! I went to Camelot spur of the moment (well as spur of the moment as an 8 hour drive can be!) and bought a horse that I can ride!!!! Whee! She was basically my third choice. The first was a DEAD DEAD DEAD Broke registered arab gelding. A little girl wanted him for her first horse though, and I was *not* going to bid against a 7 or 8 year old girl. (He went for 400). The second was a WELL TRAINED paint that looked like a pit bull. He was like a little soldier, but the guy who rides the horses told me that he had way too many buttons for a beginner. This guy turned on a dime, he did everything the rider asked, and we were told that he went for 6500 a few years ago. I kinda wanted him and my husband REALLY wanted him, but I don't want to end up eating sh*t more than I have to, or getting slammed face first into a wall because I wasn't perfect...so I passed. He went for 1300. Another deadbroke bay I decided against bidding for because it freaked the hell out when it's buddy was taken away for a test ride. Soo...I went for this huge paint mare with an abscess in her mouth. She is super interested in people and while she didn't seem as perfectly honed like a weapon (my husband's terminology lol), she did well. Anyway after the vet comes out, the BO and I are going to work with her. Can't wait until we're all clear!
Anyways, she is VERY LARGE. I Didn't realize how big she is...BO guestimates over 16 hands! O_O Also they say she is "aged", about 15 years old, but I'm going to get the vet and the dentist to give me their estimates, so by Monday I should have a better idea!!
No names yet, but the first thing that came to mind is "Witch" (mare lol), so until I can come up with something, so she shall be called!
PS, the equine dentist is also a farrier, thank god, so that will be done on Monday too.
