So excited! I have pre-interview testing on the 19th for an ACO position with the county!!!! I'm confident about the 93 question exam. Not so much about the physical portion. :-/ Wish me luck! I really need this job. I can't take Goodwill much longer.

Something happened yesterday that really put my excessive weight gain into perspective. My best friend and I were out shopping an running errands and were at Walmart. We passed this display of $10 rings and such and I saw a really pretty fake cushion-cut emerald ring that I wanted to try on my left ring finger (where I wear the promise ring Robert bought me for Christmas last year). So, I tried to take off my promise ring and after about two minutes of fighting it, I finally got it off. The lady at the jewelry counter was appalled at how tight my promise ring was on me. It was a size 7 when Robert bought it and we had it enlarged to an 8. It was literally so tight that it was cutting off the circulation to my finger. I'm actually a size 9.5 now. I was a size 7 last year before I gained all the weight. I couldn't even get my promise ring back on and I didn't think it wa a good idea to since it was so tight, so I bought a 22" sterling silver box chain (my ring is sterling silver) and now I put my promise ring on it. Luckily Robert was very understanding about it.

Hi Everyone,

My name's Amanda and I am the big 3-0 (have been for a few months now, meh.)
Where did my 20's go? It's amazing how time flies these days, already almost October and another year about to leave.

Drafty I read a few of your last posts from you here, hope things turn around for you! Good luck with your pre-interview testing.

I know what you mean about weight gain, I had one of those moments earlier this year when I went to put on my favorite jacket only to find out it was way too tight. :-/ I joined Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago (7 pounds down!) But ugh, its so hard sometimes.

Do any of you have any big goals? I like to do "Five year goals" to give myself something to shoot for. When I was 25 I wanted to have a good job and buy a house, I have a good job and bought my house when I was 28. It's a nice little starter home.

Now I'm moving on to being a writer, I have always wanted to write but I've been far too lazy to motivate myself to do so. So I'm starting to push myself for it, my 5 year goal is to have something published either the publisher-route or self-publishing through amazon and nook. Eventually I'd like to be able to quit my job and work as a writer full time ( on novels.)

I have a few goals right now.

The first is to get back down to where I was in high school (weight-wise) by my birthday next year (October 24th). I was ~155lbs in high school...I weigh 245lbs right now.

The second is to have Aires ready to show in the local shows next summer. I'm basically starting from square one for saddle training for him, since now I realize that he was rushed through his training by my old BO and there are large drive-a-semi-through-them holes in his saddle training.

The third is to finish my novel that I've been working on for...oh gosh...I did the math and I've been working on it in one form or another for literally half of my life (I'll be 31 in less than a month).

Finish it, finish it!!

I set myself a goal to attempt to do 1,000 words a day. Didn't have to be what I was working on, could be writing anything, but hopefully it'll get me writing more so the flow of words come easier (or something like that.)

I used to write every day. Then I met my boyfriend and he's very needy, so if I'm not paying 100% attention to him, he gets pissy. It makes it really difficult to have "me time" and write..or read...or work with my horse...or hang out with my best friend. *sigh*

I've had one of those. I can't do needy.
I'm far too independent and selfish (this is why I don't have kids, or a husband. )

I'm a firm believe that I (and prospective boyfriend) should have "personal" time

I don't mind "needy" moderation. Let me have my space and we'll both be happier for it.

Right now, this is a big issue for us. He is EXTREMELY jealous and questions me on everything. My best friend and I went to EquiFest last Friday night to watch the rodear cow dog demonstration and the team roping competition and he straight out "asked" me (read "accused") if I was going there to meet guys. I have NEVER given him a reason to not trust me...ever. He does have a few mental issues (we know he's had PTSD for a while, and I'm pretty sure he's got adult ADHD, as well as possibly being bi-polar), so hopefully we're going to get all this straightened out at his annual check-up next month. He's a former Marine and goes to the VA for his check-ups, and has asked me to come with him to help explain to the doctor what's going on.
